In an article about foodborn illnesses I came across 5 dirtiest foods. These types of food include some of my favorite healthy winter groceries and I decided to share the list:
1. Eggs (Salmonella infected) - cook them properly for 10 - 15 minutes.
2. Peaches- peach skins are doused in pesticides before they make it to grocery store to prevent blemishes.
3. Pre-packaged salad mixes: washed the mix before tossing it in your salad bowl.
4. Melons: Salmonella and Shigella risk. Scrub the melons with mild dish soap before slicing it.
5. Scallions (spring onion) Hepatitis A, Cryptosporidium, Shigella and Salmonella. Wach them properly before cooking with them.
